Hinduism is considered to be the oldest religion in the world although some say its more of a large complex socio-religious consisting of innumerable sects worshiping countless gods. It is the dominant religion in India and Nepal, and it is derived more from a intellectual and philosophical point of view instead of a rigid set of beliefs. It is the third largest religion behind Christianity and Islam.
The source of spirituality in Hindu comes from The Vedas which are a set of ancient scriptures written in Sanskrit.
Among these are the Upanishads, which elaborate on the philosophical aspects of Hindu teachings and which contain the essence of Hinduism's spiritual message.
"Taking as a bow the grate weapon of the Upanishad, one should put upon it an arrow sharpened by meditation.
Stretching it with a thought directed to the essence of That.
Penetrate that Imperishable as the mark, my friend."
-Mundaka Upanishad
"That which is the finest essence-this whole world has that as its soul. That is Reality. That is Atman. That art thou."
-Chandogya Upanishad
